    HOW THIS ALL CAME ABOUT...

On a clear, warm day in 1999 I buckled up in my new car and headed to Marin.   It was the first car I had owned in 14 years so driving was a pleasure back then.

  Marin is a beautiful county just north of San Francisco and the two are connected by the Golden Gate Bridge.   Mt. Tamalpais (Mt. Tam) presides over the area which, thankfully, still has relatively large tracts of protected parks, forests, farmland and beaches.   This is also an area populated with the beautiful, extra-ordinary and awe inspiring coastal redwood trees. (Sequoia Sempervirens)

   In west Marin, roads wind in and around the rolling hills and mountain and this is where I chose to drive that day.  I felt free and happy in these hills and woodlands without any particular thoughts clamoring for attention. 

  As I steered into yet another curve I began to notice an organized thought form come into my awareness.   I was picking up specific information being communicated by - - Trees. 

  This was an unusual experience for me; it persisted and I quickly pulled over to the side of the road, got out and "listened" to this telepathic communication.   

  I simply Knew this was coming from Trees.  My experience was one of listening to something coming from outside of myself and not a thought coming from within.   I had no doubt that Tree consciousness was "speaking".

  In essence, they wanted or proposed that something be done to create a bridge of understanding between trees and humans.  They didn't specify how...

  At the time I was certain that this message was specifically for me. 

And I felt so special to be chosen like this!   But since then, I have come to believe it was more like an all points bulletin and I am one human, at least, who responded to the broadcast.  

  The exact "words" of the communique elude me but the fundamental message was to create a pathway so a broader and clearer understanding can arise for the benefit of all.

  Trees are intelligent, multidimensional beings with meaning and purpose to their lives separate from human involvement.  They are acutely aware of their responsibilities as a species and their reason for Being.  Most of us are blind to this and it puts us at a great disadvantage.

  At that moment, I understood my mission in life.  I didn't know how or why but the seed was planted and I knew I would answer the call.  I also knew that my own growth would be tied directly to this work.

  Once I had the idea to interview people who could speak with trees and record their stories, I needed to find them.   I also realized I had A LOT of learning to do on all levels; and there is no end to the learning.

  As a child I had a strong and clear experience of telepathy with a tree which I included with the other interviews.  But I need to admit here that even though I have been at this for many years, my own ability to communicate and understand Trees is very limited in this everyday reality.   Go figure!

  The Nature Speaks Project has taken on a life of its own; we are evolving together and it is a gift for which I am deeply grateful.
